You don't have to get a ticket for the emotional rollercoaster, to change the world.
Here's how to handle entrepreneurial, Passionate World Changer fears - and the emotional roller coaster we feel we live on!
You'll learn the five most common fears that derail us, so they don't have to affect you. You'll learn how to let go of fears and emotions, rather than pushing through them.
And you'll be able to stay calmer, happier and less easily knocked out of kilter - so you can love this journey.
I'm going to duck behind my screen before you lob rotten tomatoes at me, but there's no such thing as entrepreneurial fear.
You can't wrap it up and put it in a box. It's not part of the in-built survival system that makes us pause at cliff edges. It's not something someone can give you.
But it is hard-wired in your brain - based on years of telling ourselves mind-stories about why we should be scared.
It's both tragic and wonderful. Tragic, because those mind-story fears, limiting beliefs, hidden blocks and excuses keep us stuck, dreaming big, but playing small. Wonderful because 'neuroplasticity' means we can rewire our brains, just as we do when we learn to ride a bike or speak a foreign language.
I am NOT a fan of feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Pushing your way past your fears is the toughest way to change the world. (I've got a Soul Nudge episode that talks about the 2 Fs of success which explains why). I also don't believe we should use our fears as an excuse to hide from our big, bright, scary Passionate World Changer fears.
My motto: feel the fear, clear out that block, then take the inspired actions that create breakthroughs, not burnout. Enjoy the journey!
So in this section, you'll find some of my favourite resources for releasing your fears, for getting off the emotional roller coaster, for pressing 'pause' on the inner dialogue that creates our sense of feeling scared.
Let's start with pressing 'pause':
How To Tame Your Inner Critic In Under Sixty Seconds
In this episode of the Dare To Dream Bigger podcast, I take you through the invisible cycle that means a single negative thought can last for weeks, instead of minutes, why you can’t ‘think’ your way out of negative thinking – no matter what the ‘experts’ say - how it affects your performance, plus a practical strategy: how to tame your inner critic and press ‘pause’ on negative self-talk in under sixty seconds.
And here's an interview I did recently for Chris Ducker's Youpreneur podcast. In it I explain the difference between 'legitimate fear' and 'mind-story' fear - and why this causes us to self-sabotage, without realising:
How To Get Out Of Your Own Way
In this episode of the Chris Ducker's Youpreneur podcast, we take a journey through entrepreneurial self-doubt, how we self-sabotage, why 'pushing through' Imposter Syndrome is such bad advice - and practical steps you can take today to release fears and self-doubt, to crank up your confidence.
My Limiting Belief Toolkit course includes a section on EFT - aka ''tapping' - which I have found to be one of the most potent tools for clearing hidden fears and blocks. It's especially useful when you don't want to have to dive into the emotion or navel-gaze your way through understanding how you got that fear.
Once you're familiar with the technique, you can use it to clear most conscious and subconscious blocks in minutes, not months.
