Clare's Yoga Yurt
How to find it, hire it or join a course in it.
Clare's Yoga Yurt
Set in six acres of beautiful Ashdown Forest countryside, Clare's yoga yurt is the ideal spot for your workshop or course, for those times when soulless hotel conference rooms just won't do.
You have a direct access track into Ashdown Forest, with its ancient oak trees and woodland paths.
Quiet and secluded, but easily accessible from the local towns of East Grinstead, Hartfield, Forest Row and Tunbridge Wells, it's just an hour from London (London Bridge or Victoria).
It's not just for yoga and meditation classes.
The Yoga Yurt has also hosted business Masterminds, personal development courses and team-building sessions.
Any workshop that would thrive being located in the countryside, away from the bustle of the office, would work well at the yoga yurt.
Please note that there is good mobile data reception, but no wifi or internet. It is intended for off-grid events.
Available to hire for full days or evenings. Hire includes:
EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE YURT
The yurt includes all the yoga mats, cushions and blankets you need for up to 10 students, plus optional meditation stools.
It can accommodate about 11-12 yoga students, plus the teacher, or up to 20 for a sitting-on-cushions workshop.
It stands on an insulated base which, combined with the yurt's felt lining and 7kW wood-burning stove, means you'll be warm and toasty, whatever the weather. Reasonable use of wood for the wood-burning stove is included in your hire.
The yurt has its own compost loo, too!
And there's a picnic area outside, for warmer weather.
EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE THERAPY STUDIO
The therapy studio (about 50m walk) gives you a second loo and a kitchen, along with table and chairs for your students' break times and herbal teas.
It also has its own 50' garden, which is a lovely spot for outdoor lunches.
Note: we ask that no food or drinks apart from water be taken into the yurt - because who wants to do their yoga on someone else's sandwich crumbs?!
HERBAL TEAS AND FILTERED OR SPRING WATER
Your students can enjoy herbal teas in the therapy studio and we provide Plawhatch spring water or filtered water, for those who prefer not to drink tap water.
If you want catering for your event, we recommend talking to Shane at Cafe CoCo in Forest Row, who can provide a delicious and affordable menu for you.
FULL DAY OR EVENING
You can hire the yurt and therapy studio for a full day (8am to 6pm) for £250. Evening hire (6pm to 10pm) is £100.
For two-day hire, the middle evening is yours, as our gift.
Please note that we are not able to offer overnight accommodation in the yurt or therapy studio, even for a two-day hire, but we can help your students to find lovely places to stay, locally.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
How long can I book for?
The minimum booking time is a full day or evening. A full day is from 8am to 6pm. Evenings are from 6pm to 10pm.
Please remember to allow time in your booking for setting up and clearing up, so that the space is ready for the next therapist at the end of your time slot.
Is there disabled access?
The yurt is in a field. The path (2 options depending on the weather) is safe, but not suitable for those with mobility problems because it is not paved and is about 70m long.
There are steps up into the yurt and the therapy studio, as well as the compost toilet.
Can my clients smoke on site?
Sorry - because this is a healing centre, it is strictly a non-smoking site, including the outdoor areas. If your clients need to smoke, they can go for a walk in the forest, which is just up the track from the Studio and Yoga Yurt.
How far ahead can I book?
If you love the Studio and want to book several months ahead, we would be happy to reserve an on-going slot for you. To confirm your space, we ask you to pay 50% within 7 days and the balance 14 days before your booking or event.
Please get in touch via the contact form to let us know what you're looking for.
Where can my students stay, if they need overnight?
There are some great local B&Bs and small hotels, all within 5 minutes' drive. We are happy to suggest some, if you're not local.
How do I book?
Please contact Clare on 01342 477057 during office hours, to let her know more about your workshop and to get answers to your questions.
How do my clients / students get to the Yoga Yurt?
The nearest bus stop is at the bottom of the forest track - just 2 minutes' walk from the Studio. This goes straight to East Grinstead station for trains into London.
For clients or students who are driving, we provide a special website page you can share with them, with full directions, to make it super-easy for them to find you.
Can I book it for overnight stays?
No. The Yoga Yurt and Therapy Studio are strictly for daytime use only, even if you have a two-day booking.
Can you cater for my course's lunch?
We don't offer a catering service, though you are welcome to use the kitchenette. However, there are a range of wonderful cafes in nearby Forest Row and we would be happy to suggest some for you.
Cafe Coco does a great catering service and we would be happy to put you in touch with them.
